How Underfloor Heating & Cooling Works
Only wet (hydronic) underfloor heating can be used for cooling — the same pipe loops that carry warm water through your floor in winter can carry chilled water in summer, gently drawing heat out of the room instead of putting it in. Electric underfloor heating (mats or cables) can only heat, never cool.
Switching between the two needs a reversible air source or ground source heat pump — not every heat pump model supports a cooling mode, so this is one of the first things to confirm with a manufacturer or installer, whether you're fitting a new wet UFH system or retrofitting cooling onto an existing one.

Which reversible heat pump will they use, and can it deliver the chilled-water flow temperatures the floor design needs?
How will they prevent condensation? Look for dew-point monitoring, humidity control and flow-temperature limits in the design — not an afterthought.
Do any rooms need extra help? Heavily glazed rooms, loft conversions or bedrooms with high heat gain sometimes need a fan coil unit or ventilation alongside the floor cooling — ask whether your rooms are a good fit for floor cooling alone.
